Buzz Right Back----E-Mail a Friend----Print Page

Darling friends,

I am elated about the recent news that Judge Sonia Santomayor has been nominated to the the higher  court in America: The Supreme Court. Of course, I am cheering for her. I did not think it was going to happens in my lifetime

Another great weekend has come and gone. Only in New Orleans will you have three great festivals in one weekend and I had to choose which one to attend:  New Orleans Wine and Food Experience, the Bayou Boogaloo and the Greek Festival. I could only do one and believe me I was exhausted after focusing and attending everything I could at the NOWFE.

Unfortunately, my little dog Tito had another setback that kept me going from one vet to another and missing the wine seminars. So please include him in your prayers. He is the love of my life!

On Thursday, I attended the delicious and fun Royal Street Stoll as well as the 60th birthday celebration of the Carousel Bar at the Monteleone Hotel. As you can see from my photos, these events were well attended.

The wine, the food and the ambience kept everyone going, in spite of raindrops. On Friday and Saturday, I attended the Grand Tastings and the Louisiana Seafood Cook-Off in which Chef Tory McPhail of Commander’s Palace became the 2009 King of Louisiana Seafood. Congratulations Chef McPhail.

This week coming up is going to be a lot of fun and I will have plenty of opportunities to raise my glass and toast to New Orleans. As a matter of fact, on Thursday, May 28, I will be the celebrity bartender at Davenport Lounge at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Trumpeter Jeremy Davenport and his band will be playing from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the lounge with no cover charge, and if you buy a least one drink you can have your parking validated. I will be serving complimentary Davenportini from 5:30 to 8 p.m. so try to come and enjoy a great fun night.

Enjoy your week!

One of the best jazz clubs in the Big Easy, Irvin Mayfield's Jazz Playhouse at the Royal Sonesta Hotel, 300 Bourbon Street,  has quickly become the hottest place in town to enjoy authentic New Orleans jazz music.  With many of the city's jazz legends and emerging young talent taking the stage at the "Playhouse," the stylishly sleek club has responded to demand and is now presenting live performances six nights a week.

Beginning Monday, May 25, music lovers can experience jazz music every Monday through Saturday on one of the world's most famous entertainment corridors, Bourbon Street.  New Orleans born trumpeter, Irvin Mayfield, will be treating audiences every Wednesday night to a stellar performance in the Jazz Playhouse.  On Tuesdays guests can take in the sounds of Jason Marsalis, member of the legendary Marsalis family.  All performances begin at 8 pm, and there is no cover.
