bullyingThe following is a statement made by the Forum for Equality concerning recent legislation impacting gay and other students impacted by school bullying:

With a few swift notes and hollow testimony by his staffer Russell Armstrong, Gov. Bobby Jindal has attempted to sweep the School Bullying Prevention Act and the entire bullying epidemic under the rug. Watch portions of Russell Armstrong’s testimony:

thor hammerSo, when will the Goodell hammer fall?

Curious minds around the NFL want to know.

With the NFL draft next week, many believe it would be better if the Commissioner sanction the bounty-bound New Orleans Saints defensive players now rather than later.

tom benson saintsWith the New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton ready to sit out for one year starting this Monday, with its unsigned franchise quarterback upset with the franchise tag bestowed upon him and with the uncertain stench of Bountygate still in the air  with the next ax to fall upon up to 27 defensive players, its owner, Tom Benson fiddles with a hornets nest of other issues.

bill-parcells-saintsNew Orleans Ssaints Tom Benson has announced that Joe Vitt will fill the spot as head coach for Sean Payton as a result of Payton's suspension resulting from Bountygate.  Vitter has been suspended for six games.  Up to the selection, the rumors were that Bill Parcells would take the Saints job despite his statement days ago that he would not.

thor hammerThere’s a great new edict that’s about to become law in my home state of Louisiana.  It’s called   the GTCPTG statute.  Short for, “Give the Criminals plenty of time to get away.”  Louisiana legislators and the state’s insurance department are working overtime to assure that the Bayou State continues to hold the title of the country’s most expensive state in which to buy insurance.

bill-parcells-saintsESPN just announced Parcells will not be interim coach and Joe Vitt will coach team until his suspension, after preseason.

republican-jesusThe overwhelming tide of legislation in this first session of the new order of things in Louisiana has focused on exclusively partisan, ideological policy choices. Pragmatism is practically dead. And why? Because Conservative Republicans don’t know how to govern in democratically elected government. That authoritarian streak has become so pervasive that rigorous, objective study of policy outcomes is no longer necessaryJust do as you feel. All of this explained in one paragraph:

jindal-differenceToday, Gov. Bobby Jindal and Oceaneering International Inc. announced the 30,000-square-foot expansion of the company's Morgan City facilities, a $5 million capital investment that will support the creation of 200 new direct jobs and the retention of 1,700 existing jobs. The 200 new jobs – which will average $60,000 a year, plus benefits – will result in another 407 indirect jobs, Louisiana Economic Development estimates.
