trump congress speechPresident Donald Trump will be speaking to the nation Tuesday night on the eve of the successful trip to Switzerland and the passing of his tax plan. Also, he has laid out a plan of sorts to enable the “dreamers” to remain the the United States in exchanged with ending the immigration lottery and in exchange with $25 billion to fund his Mexican wall.

Last year, when he addressed the nation, about ten days after his inaugural speech, the President gave a sober speech in which afterwards, even the most liberal commentators congratulated him for staying on message.

conspirators roaredIf there’s a take-away from Michael Wolff’s book, “Fire and Fury,” it has to be that Donald Trump did not collude with Russia to win the 2016 election. Since none of Trump’s motivations appears to have been particularly altruistic, it’s clear, if Wolff’s theory is correct, that this unlikely candidate would have sought help from any power, foreign or domestic, to win anything. He’d rather have lost, like king in “The Mouse that Roared” who declared war on America in the belief that a loss would trigger foreign aid sufficient to bail out his tiny, broke kingdom.

shhh trump edwardsJohn R. Edwards and Donald J. Trump—what do these two men have in common?

Remember John R. Edwards?  He was a North Carolina US Senator who twice ran for US President and  who Kerry chose as his 2004 running mate. He is the man whose career blew up during his presidential run in 2008 after an affair was exposed while his wife suffered from cancer?  The Department of Justice indicted him for his role because of payment of hush money to his mistress was claimed to be an illegal campaign contribution.

ryan ccDid Donald Trump or his campaign (or anyone else) violate the federal campaign finance law--assuming an alleged $130,000 was paid to Stormy Daniels by Michael Cohen to silence her from talking about an possible sexual affair in 2006?

This is a question that emanates from a legal filing by Common Cause early this week.

common causeAre Donald Trump and associated organizations in some “stormy weather”, legally?  Are we seeing a repeat of the John Edwards controversy?

Assuming the truth of allegations being made in the media, which President Trump contends to be FAKE, are the latest revelations of a reported relationship between Donald Trump and Stormy Daniels, anything more than titillating gossip being lodged against the current President of the United States?

cnn shark acostaEvery day it is becoming clearer that CNN, the once proud ratings giant and unquestioned cable network news leader, has become a total laughingstock. It has literally “jumped the shark,” meaning that a once proud broadcaster has become absurd. The original definition referred to the fifth season premiere episode of the hit show Happy Days, in which the main character, Fonzie literally jumps a shark while water skiing with his signature leather jacket. It is also a perfect reference to a broadcast network like CNN that has diminished greatly in quality and popularity.

ranna shutdown2Can you believe that a meeting held in the oval office has sparked a controversy being heard around the world in which the debate being is "a-hole" vs. "a-house"? Instead of discussing a budget deal and the wall and whether the dreamers are facing a nightmare, not of their own choosing over an issue basically not over their own choosing, the topic of discussion, for better or worse, has degenerated to what was said at a presidential meeting. The DACA kids and young adults came to America because their parents wanted a better life and as a result, the parents, broke the law and technically speaking, so did the kids.  So, who should be blamed for this conversation meltdown?
