So many Coronavirus economy questions. For now, very few answers. Lots of disappointments. For some, hopefully, a new promising new normal beginning .

Questions such as: Can businesses in this region recover? Are we ready to reopen? Which industries might be the winners? Which could lose?

Michael Hecht, the President of Greater New Orleans Inc seemed optimistic but worried.  Hecht has been the face of the region's economic development engine. He moved to the city after Katrina and has been at the center of major developments in the airline, technology, manufacturing, transportation, aerospace, logistics, just to name a few.

According to an email from Michael Hecht of GNO Inc, New Orleans tech community has plenty of activity which is receiving national recognition. Here's the latest:

Louisiana business shorts: New Orleans is hosting two programs focusing upon business and entrepreneur leadership. On Today and tomorrow, the economic development organization for the region, GNO Inc.  Next month, Facebook is coming to the region to help digitize the small business community, the Facebook way. Here are the particulars:

Late winter and early spring is one of the best times of the year in the New Orleans region. The Chambers and Greater New Orleans Inc hold major events. The French Quarter festival announces its schedule for those waiting to take in the sun, the food and the music. The Big Idea  and Entrepreneurship Week is upon us once again from our friends from Idea Village.

Congratulations to GNO, Inc. and Louisiana Economic Development for being awarded the Silver Medal from Business Facilities magazine for the #2 "Deal of the Year" in America for 2017.

The award was given for DXC Technology’s commitment to establish a Digital Transformation Center in New Orleans, an initiative that will create 2,000+ jobs in the global IT and business enterprise sector.

Good news for New Orleans as it approaches its 300 year anniversary. The national publication, Business Insider has named New Orleans to a list of 11 U.S. cities to which "Millennials are flocking…in droves.”
