On Friday night, CNN’s Don Lemon also from Louisiana, interviewed Landrieu while Harvey approached the Texas shore.
Landrieu, who has received attention recently with his presiding over the US Conference of Mayors, his promotion of removing Confederate monuments and with recent serious unexpected flooding in the city made possible due to inadequate pumping, said he was concerned not only for those in Texas, but, the aftermath, next week.

He said that after Tuesday, “nobody knows which way the storm is going to go after spending days dropping feet of water onto the Texas coast”.
Landrieu said he was concerned about the storm going back into the Gulf of Mexico and the rain bands driving intense amount of water over a short period of time”. The Mayor said, past Tuesday, “they don’t know what’s going to happen yet, which is really what the challenge is for preparation”.
The New Orleans Mayor has said that New Orleans is vulnerable to a heavy rain due to the lack of turbines and pumps in operation.
