Trump's chained memories: "Don't dare leave wall"

WALL DONT LEAVE

In his campaign for President, Donald Trump made building the wall across the southern border with Mexico his signature pledge. In fact, it started on the first day of his presidential campaign when Trump highlighted the problems of illegal immigration. He famously said, “When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best... They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with [them]. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” These remarks led to a swift backlash as he was denounced by Macy’s, Univision, NBC among other corporate giants.

shutdown wall 6

We have heard the chants for three years, “Build the Wall!” It was the number one reason why Americans elected Donald Trump as President in 2016. Unfortunately, it is the most glaring unfulfilled promise of the Trump presidency.

Although the President wants a border wall, he needs Congress to fund the construction. Until now, Congress has only provided an anemic $1.6 billion for the border wall. This pathetic amount is nowhere near the $25 billion that is actually needed to properly build a wall that will work.

under siege

With an army of 10,000 migrants closing in on the Southern border, The White House is considering a range of options including a temporary halt to asylum. The first step should be to order the United States military to secure the 2,000-mile border with Mexico. Today, it was reported that approximately 1,000 troops would be deployed to the border to provide additional resources to the U.S. Border Patrol. While this would be a good first stop, it is woefully inadequate. The time is now for President Donald Trump to take dramatic action and these bold steps would have the support of the American people.

immigration victim

Whenever any innocent American is murdered, it is a tragedy as family members and friends have lost a loved one. However, when such a horrendous crime is committed by an illegal immigrant, it is especially tragic.

If only our nation’s immigration laws were enforced, the victim would still be alive. This is true in the case of Mollie Tibbetts, a beautiful Iowa college student, who was allegedly killed by an illegal immigrant. This young woman should be alive today enjoying her life. Instead, she is being mourned as the latest victim of an illegal immigrant.
