Louisiana dead last in healthcare rank claims Wallethub, Mississipi ranks higher

Of greatest significance in comparing the two years, WalletHub rates Louisiana now 44th in average monthly insurance premium compared to 28th from last year.  The state did improve from 30th to 25th in terms of the number of physicians per capita however, the number of children with health insurance improved by 2%, 24th to 22nd place, this year.

Louisiana's cost is ranked 49th, access is ranked 33rd and outcomes are ranked 50th.  By comparison, only Mississippi's outcomes are worse, yet its total score is approximately 1.5% better than Louisiana because its costs and access are much better.  The best state is Hawaii with its cost ranked 3rd, it's access not very good at 42nd but the outcomes ranked in 1st place.
