Has the Louisiana legislature become a battle-ground of anger and acrimony, based, in part upon political philosophy and to an extent, whether willing to admit it, or not, race?  Essentially, this was the first question asked in Bayoubuzz’s interview with The Advocate’s Reporter, Elizabeth Crisp, who covers the Louisiana legislature.

So, let the olympic-sized Louisiana legislative fiscal debate match begin! 

On Monday, the Louisiana legislature convenes at the state Capitol for another special fiscal session to make an attempt to fix, what we might call, the always-existing revenue hole fiscal cliff. 

President Donald Trump will be speaking to the nation Tuesday night on the eve of the successful trip to Switzerland and the passing of his tax plan. Also, he has laid out a plan of sorts to enable the “dreamers” to remain the the United States in exchanged with ending the immigration lottery and in exchange with $25 billion to fund his Mexican wall.

Last year, when he addressed the nation, about ten days after his inaugural speech, the President gave a sober speech in which afterwards, even the most liberal commentators congratulated him for staying on message.

Jim Brown, former State Senator, Louisiana Secretary of State and Insurance Commissioner, knows a little bit about the term, “scrub the budget”. That was the term famously used by former Governor Buddy Roemer, who came from election nowhere in the final weeks of the gubernatorial campaign, to beat then-incumbent Edwin Edwards, Billy Tauzin, Bob Livingston and Speedy Long in 1987.

A Louisiana guy named John Thompson died last week. You may not recognize the name, but he was the victim of one of the worst cases of prosecutorial misconduct in the state’s history. Here are the facts.
