landrieu 2014

What a profound difference makes six years!

Back in February 2014, Louisiana was embroiled in a hotly-contested free-for-all for the U.S. Senate position. Retired, and unknown Air Force Colonel Rob Maness had just announced his candidacy to oust Senator Mary Landrieu, the powerful senior Democrat US Senator. Landrieu, generally had been hailed as the hero from the Hurricane Katrina wars fighting the emotional unending battles to save South Louisiana and New Orleans.  However, Landrieu faced one major obstacle--President Barack Obama who down in these parts was less popular than the BP Oil Spill (if that were possible).

"Russia Rob"

That is what the Invisible Acadiana tweeted the retired Air Force Colonel after a Bayou Brief expose dealing with Russian oligarch’s money coming into the state’s Republican political coffers. Last night, the Bayou Brief added to discussion.

In my view, anybody who would in any way associate Colonel Rob Maness to Russia is stretching it quite a bit. He might be slightly embarrassed that his name has appeared among many others in a brewing campaign financing controversy, but knowingly taking campaign funds from a billionaire Russian? No way.

Maness, in our weekly Friday morning Bayoubuzz Live Stream interview discussed the growing fuss, when he announced  “there's some bits of breaking news the last few days I just wanted to check to talk about real quick and it has to do with Russia…”.

budget nayThe Louisiana legislative session, part two,  is finally coming to an end. Part one occurred earlier this year as a special fiscal session, in which the legislature could not agree upon a budget at all.  However, given that the legislature could not raise revenues during the part two or regular session this year, that just might occur on Tuesday, when another special session kicks off, or, shall we say, legislative session, part three?

benson letterIs Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards being fair or is he "over the top", scaring seniors with potential "kick-you-out-of-nursing-homes" letters as a result of the budget standoff with the Republican House of Representatives?  And why scare seniors, Governor Edwards, have you sent out contract-reduction letters to the Saints and the Pelicans?

broke dome 4We're all familiar with "Build it, They will come"

That's exactly what New Orleans and Louisiana did to attract the New Orleans Saints and later the New Orleans Pelicans.

But, what if? What if we, the State of Louisiana, stopped funding our beloved professional football and basketball teams's existence in these parts, in what some might call, pro sports "pay to play"?

Familiar with "Fund us, or we will go"?

FRIDAY GUNCall it a Friday the 13th warning, message or omen. Louisiana legislators, who don't respect the second amendment, will face the "curse" of Louisiana gun advocates. And, it won't be pretty, politically.

Maness, former US Senate candidate and former candidate for the Louisiana legislature has that message.  Those lawmakers up at the Baton Rouge capitol need to know that Louisiana gun owners are looking down legislators back and will made their voices heard on behalf of the rights of law-abiding citizens who want to preserve their rights to bear arms.

maness rapid fireOne of the major issues going through the legislators of various states in America, including the Louisiana legislature now in session, is the issue of gun control. Ever since the Parkland school shooting, the debate has become heightened on many levels.

Today, as part of our regular Friday morning Facebook and Twitter Live discussion, Colonel Rob Maness discussed the current developments in the Louisiana legislature. Below is the transcript of our conversation on this point. Also below is the video of the live discussion.

tweet gun 3Does Louisiana Senator Karen Carter Peterson really want to repeal the second amendment and take away our guns? Or, how about, does she just to repeal the second amendment but allow us to keep our weapons? Or, does she not want to do either?

pete peal smallWhoa!!

Does Karen Carter Peterson, the Chairperson of the Louisiana Democratic Party support repealing the second amendment?

Rob Maness seems to think so and points to the evidence. A tweet by Peterson, that states "Repeal the Second Amendment" which includes the very controversial op-ed in the New York Times, earlier this week by no less, than former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, who advocated that it should be repealed.

maness copSometimes, events occur where two people or entities you support, unfortunately, clash.  This situation seems to be the case this morning. Retired Air Force Colonel Rob Maness, during our weekly Facebook Live discussion, talked about a reported incident that occurred last night in Pearl River, in which the conflict appears to be between the Sheriff’s Department and the US military veteran.
