NOLA.com has reported that Jindal's chief of staff, Timmy Teepell, said the ad buy is in the six figures and is enough to ensure "everybody will have plenty of opportunities to see it."
Meanwhile, Kevin Franck, communications director of the Louisiana Democratic Party has much to say about the early Jindal media blitz:
“When an incumbent Governor starts pouring money into TV ads this far out from Election Day without a publicly declared opponent, it’s a sure sign he’s worried about his standing with Louisiana families.
“After presenting a budget based on a combination of one time funding and imaginary money and getting caught up in an unfolding ethics flap, these slick DC-style ads are simply an attempt to distract Louisiana voters from the fact that Jindal has spent more time touring the country to sell books and raise campaign cash than working to fix Louisiana’s budget mess."
Which means that Jindal will be touting his horn as the state debates the 1.6 billion dollar budget shortfall and while, to date, there is not a single opponent willing and perhaps able to take on the governor.
Then, one “progressive” blog says that opportunity might fall to one Carolyn Fayard, who made a good show in the Lt. Governor’s race and who is being touted as the “new face” of the bayou political-land.
The Daily Kingfish said early this week, “According to well-placed Democratic sources, Caroline Fayard is seriously contemplating a run for Governor of the state of Louisiana.“
On her website, which is asking for contributions, is listed a link to the Daily Kingfish article. Also, the website touts this message, “Caroline was recently mentioned by the Governor's Chief of Staff as a potential challenger to watch in this October's elections. To read the complete article follow this link: http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2011110316011.”
Only time will tell how much Governor Jindal will spend promoting a non-existent campaign race and how long Fayard will be pushing her race to October for an election seat, unknown.
