Update: Governor Bobby Jindal, as of 3:21 pm Wednesday, has another opponent. This time, it is Cary Deaton of Metairie (who has run in a number of statewide races) and Tara Hollis, the Democratic school teacher from North Louisiana--who could be the only Democrat running against Jindal. Bayoubuzz reported on Tuesday that John Georges is seriously considering another run for Governor. Should he run, presumably, he would run also as a Democrat.
If so, now that Hollis has qualified, will the Democratic Party support any one candidate against Republican Bobby Jindal?

FROM TUESDAY EVENING
After one day of Louisiana election qualifying, there was officially nothing much about which to get excited if you are into political competition.
Governor Bobby Jindal picked up three opponents—all of them no well-known political names of note probably possessing not enough money to compete with the campaign-rich-incumbent-governor-seeking his second term of office.
Also, those expected to qualify for statewide office did.
The only races that seem to have any real competition are Secretary of State and Lt. Governor.
The rest, so far, in terms of excitement are simply ho-hum, elections without any opposition.
Towards the end of the day, after qualifying was over until Wednesday, Democrat John Georges entered the field, even if, for now, it is only talk.
Georges released a poll that shows he has a chance to beat Jindal under certain circumstances. He also told Bayoubuzz he was seriously thinking about running for Governor.
For now, all the politicos in the state can speculate as to whether Georges, who could finance his own campaign without ever holding a fundraiser, will take the plunge this late in the game .
He might be making some noises with two days left for qualifying, but, unless he forks over the qualifying money and signs the papers, it is simply political fodder for discussion—that is all.
Timmy Teepell
Governor Jindal’s campaign manager, Timmy Teepell released excerpts from Jindal relative to his filing qualification papers early Tuesday morning. Here are a few comments from the Governor:
"I'm honored to qualify today to run for reelection to the office of Governor. I am pleased and honored the people have entrusted me to be their governor these past three and a half years. I'm officially asking them today to elect me to a second term.
"We've made great progress in our first term – revamped and strengthened our ethics laws, we've cut taxes, and we've made government do more with less. We continue to improve health care and we've continued to improve educational opportunities for our people…
"Every single month we have outperformed the Southern and national economies. During the worst recession since the Great Depression our unemployment has been below the national and Southern averages every single month.
"After 25 years of losing our people, for the last three years in a row we've had more people move into Louisiana rather than leave the state for the first time in nearly three decades…
"Our state's been through a lot. We've been through a number of hurricanes – you look at Gustav and Ike and even before that, Katrina and Rita. We've been through an oil spill, we've been through the flood, been through the recent drought, and now most recently tropical storm Lee and the fires.
"What that shows us is that Louisianians are a resilient people. We've been through all those challenges and yet we continue to build a better state for our children and grandchildren. Our work is not done yet."
