On the same day that Louisiana Secretary of Health and Hospitals, Alan Levine, has announced his coming departure from the Governor Bobby Jindal administration, Chief of Staff, Timmy Teepell has taken leave of absence and will work for the Republican Governors Association, called RGA, beginning Aug. 1.

Teepell plans to return to his state job in November.

According to sources, Teepell said he will work on election grassroots efforts and voter turnout for GOP candidates during this election cycle.

Stephen Waguespack, who is the executive counsel for the governor will assume the Chief of Staff position.
Teepel’s temporary departure raises curiosity in some quarters as to why he is leaving during the throes of a major catastrophe, the BP oil crises and deep water oil drilling moratorium due to the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon rig and decision by the Obama administration to impose a temporary moratorium.

It also raises the question whether Teepel is laying the groundwork for a national run by his boss, Governor Jindal.
