New Orleans Entrepreneurship Week Starts Saturday With Big Ideas

What’s the Big idea about The Idea Village ‘s annual Entrepreneurship Week taking place March 10-16?

For one, it features over 75 events, including over 45 FREE events open to the public.

This year’s NOEW has attracted high-profile business leaders and partners including Google,


The White House, Walter Isaacson, nationally-renowned venture capitalists Jim Coulter

(TPG Capital), Jeff Brody (Redpoint) Jeff Schwartz (Bain Capital), regional investors and

corporate volunteers, along with visiting MBA student teams from the nation’s leading

business programs.

NOEW 2011 engaged 1,000 of the best and brightest local and national minds to invest

$1,023,946 in capital, strategic consulting and resources to 475 New Orleans entrepreneurs

at 48 different events.

The Idea Village has provided direct support to over 1,101 New Orleans entrepreneurs

by engaging 1,746 professionals and allocating over 42,000 free consulting hours and $2.7

million in capital. Collectively, this portfolio generates over $82 million in annual revenue and

has created nearly 1,006 jobs for the community. New Orleans Entrepreneur Week is the

culmination of the organization’s “Entrepreneurial Season” showcasing and supporting the

city’s most promising entrepreneurs.

Then there is another BIG IDEA of sorts…

That is actually The Idea Village ‘s competitive event called appropriately, “The Big Idea”

NOEW 2012 culminates on Friday, March 16 th

with The Big Idea, presented by IBERIABANK, a first-of-its-kind collaboration of 17 local organizations that will bring together 1,000 people to participate in an American Idol-style

pitch extravaganza featuring a live audience text vote that will award up to $100,000 in capital to the best local startup. Insight will be provided by a celebrity judging panel comprised of James Carville, Mary Matalin and Irvin Mayfield. The Big Idea will take place at Manning’s on Harrah’s Fulton Street, on Friday March 16 th from 4:00–7:00pm.
