On Monday, Randy Moss will be showing his skills to the San Francisco 49ers who are in strong need for a receiver like Moss. According to reports, the Saints were quite impressed with Moss although he last played in 2010 for three different teams and sat out last year.
Nicks should have no shortage of suitors in free agency. He should expect bidding from the Cowboys and the Bears. He believes he's worth $8 million a season, same as unrestricted free agent wide receiver Marques Colston will ask for. Colston will not get that much, however.
It appears that much of the NFL football community is upset at the New Orleans Saints since Bountygate broke.
The focus has been the bounty-hunting.
But, one Carolina Panther player apparently has a different reason altogether.
According to Panther101, Panther Thomas Davis is angry claiming the Saints ran up the score against them during the last game of the season since the team was interested in setting records, not just winning the game.
Davis said he has marked his calendar for the Saints-Panther game.
The Saints have given tender to just one of their three restricted free agents. Linebacker Jonathan Casillas has been given the lowest tender, which is expected to be about $1.26 million. With that tender, the Saints will have the right of first refusal and can match any offer Casillas gets from another team. That tender also allows teams to get a draft pick from the round the player was drafted in as compensation, but that doesn't apply to in this case because Casillas entered the league as an undrafted free agent.
Quarterback Chase Daniel and linebacker Ramon Humber also are free agents and the Saints have yet to issue tenders to them.
The Saints are ready for cornerback Dwight Robinson to become a starter. A first-round draft choice in 2010, Robinson recorded 49 tackles and 4 interceptions last season. His production surpassed starter Tracy Porter in every defensive category last season and is ready to replace Porter.
This year's NFL salary cap will be $120.6 million and not much of an increase over last season's$120.375 million.
The Falcons have signed linebacker Lofa Tatupu to a two-year contract for $5.75 million. He missed the 2011 season because of two knee surgeries, The Saints had Tatupu in for a workout, but didn't offer a contract. Pro Football Focus rated Tatupu as one of the league's worst linebackers in 2010...
