vilmaOn Monday, Randy Moss will be showing his skills to the San Francisco 49ers who are in strong need for a receiver like Moss. According to reports, the Saints were quite impressed with Moss although he last played in 2010 for three different teams and sat out last year.

Moss had already strutted his stuff last week in New Orleans during the height of the BountyGate story break.

Word is that Saints All-Pro guard Carl Nicks figures his days with the Saints are over. The Saints haven't made contact with the unrestricted free agent who has said he wants to stay with the Saints.

Nicks should have no shortage of suitors in free agency. He should expect bidding from the Cowboys and the Bears. He believes he's worth $8 million a season, same as unrestricted free agent wide receiver Marques Colston will ask for. Colston will not get that much, however.

It appears that much of the NFL football community is upset at the New Orleans Saints since Bountygate broke.

The focus has been the bounty-hunting.

But, one Carolina Panther player apparently has a different reason altogether.

According to Panther101, Panther Thomas Davis is angry claiming the Saints ran up the score against them during the last game of the season since the team was interested in setting records, not just winning the game.

Davis said he has marked his calendar for the Saints-Panther game.

The Saints have given tender to just one of their three restricted free agents. Linebacker Jonathan Casillas has been given the lowest tender, which is expected to be about $1.26 million. With that tender, the Saints will have the right of first refusal and can match any offer Casillas gets from another team. That tender also allows teams to get a draft pick from the round the player was drafted in as compensation, but that doesn't apply to in this case because Casillas entered the league as an undrafted free agent.

Quarterback Chase Daniel and linebacker Ramon Humber also are free agents and the Saints have yet to issue tenders to them.

The Saints are ready for cornerback Dwight Robinson to become a starter. A first-round draft choice in 2010, Robinson recorded 49 tackles and 4 interceptions last season. His production surpassed starter Tracy Porter in every defensive category last season and is ready to replace Porter.

This year's NFL salary cap will be $120.6 million and not much of an increase over last season's$120.375 million.

The Falcons have signed linebacker Lofa Tatupu to a two-year contract for $5.75 million. He missed the 2011 season because of two knee surgeries, The Saints had Tatupu in for a workout, but didn't offer a contract. Pro Football Focus rated Tatupu as one of the league's worst linebackers in 2010...

The NFL continues to investigate the Saints, who allegedly paid to have opposing players injured. "Yeah, we have a program similar to that," said the Mafia...The website AccuScore, using various computer models, estimates the addition alone of Peyton Manning would be worth 3.1 more Dolphins victories, a leap from a projected 7.4 to 10.5

Free agent linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar is expected to be a "priority" for the Saints. He's coming off a break-out season and outplayed Jon Vilma, who was injured about half the season. The Saints may release Vilma and re-sign Dunbar as their middle linebacker...

Twenty current and former NFL players including the Saints defensive end Jeff Charleston and cornerback Jabari Greer will take part in the first-ever NFL Pro Hollywood Boot Camp at Universal Studios in Universal City, Cal.

The program which runs from April 2-5 is being directed by NFL Player Engagement and Film Inc., the New York-based film production company and will cover a wide range of topics in the movie industry.
When Gregg Williams was defensive coordinator of the Saints did opposing offenses put out bounties for missed tackles and blown coverages?...

Best headline of the week comes from Outkickthecoverage.com: "Which SEC fan base would be the most dangerous with nuclear weapons?" Alabama football? Kentucky basketball?...The Browns announced they will not pursue Peyton Manning. In related news, I am announcing I'm not in pursuit of Jen Lopez...

Poor Major League Baseball. Spring training is underway, the season is only a couple of weeks away and the NFL is still hogging the headlines with BountyGate and the Peyton Manning sweepstakes... Baseball has gone from our national pastime to our national postscript...

Hard to believe Arena League players went on strike. Did anybody notice it was a strike? I'm all for Arena players making more money, but it doesn't seem like they have much leverage. Do fans care if their team has replacement players? They don 't even know who the real players are. As long as the beer's cold and the cheerleaders are hot, most Arena fans are happy...

...The U. of North Dakota said it will keep its nickname, the Fighting Sioux, which is politically incorrect. I hear their planed replacement was Hard-Drinking Navajos...
