Real Shockey, what if Drew Brees wants New Orleans Saints to trade him?

Brees may feel it's time for a change and may ask for a trade. The Saints should give him what the wants because he put the team on his back for the last six years without reservations.

He led the Saints to becoming a powerhouse and gave the franchise an identity it had never enjoyed before. And, he is still humble.

The NFL loves Brees. The league built his reputation because he is such a solid citizen. He has been the rarest of Breeds.

He was Tebow before Tebow.

Saints fans thought the bountygate snitch was their former tight end Jeremy Shockey was receiving death threats. Warren Sapp announced on NFL Network that Shockey was the guy who tipped the league of the Saints' pay for play practice. Shockey called suspended Saints coach and told the coach he wasn't responsible for the tip to the NFL. "I know that," said Payton. "You're my guy." Sapp must have made up this story and grabbed it out of the air. No need for Shockey to take a lie detector test...

Shockey has vehemently denied being the whistleblower and now wants something done about the potential damage to his prospects for getting another job.

"Is the league going to come down on their own people (Sapp) when someone does something so wrong and outrageous? Shockey told Jason Cole or Yahoo! Sports?"

Shockey said he has been contacted by multiple lawyers about possibly filing suit and that he has heard nothing from the league.

Vikings punter Chris Kluwe said of ESPN Radio in Minneapolis that the thinks that Saints linebacker Jon Vilma, who allegedly offered to pay $10,000 to anyone who could get Vikings quarterback Brett Favre out of their NFL championship game, should be suspended from the league for life...

Former LSU running back Steven Ridley played only 200 snaps for the Patriots as a rookie last season and with Ben Jarvis Green-Ellis gone to the Bengals, his number of carries should rise. Green-Ellis played at St. Augustine and Ole Miss. Ridely's lone drawback last season was ball security, but that's a fixable problem. He's got enough natural tools

Former LSU defensive tackle Michael Brockers (6-5, 316) recorded a 5.15 40 time at the Tigers' Pro Day on Thursday. He showed up six pounds lighter which must have influenced his 40 time. He failed to break 5.30 at the Combine. He bench-pressed 225 pounds 21 reps and had a 30-inch vertical jump. He figures to be a solid anchor against the run in the NFL and his 35-inch arms will be to his advantage in rushing the passer. He'll be drafted in the first round...

Tracy Porter's one-year contract with the Peyton Manning-led Denver Broncos will pay him $4 million.

The #Saints really like all three LBs they brought in that are still on the market — Lofton, Hawthorne, Chamberlain. We'll see what happens.
