No Debate: Liberal Media CNN Misfires In Newt Gingrich Attack

The liberal media was up to its usual tricks this week. Yesterday, ABC News aired a heavily promoted interview with the ex-wife of Newt Gingrich. In the interview she claimed that Gingrich wanted an “open marriage.” It was a predictable attack from an embittered ex-spouse. There was nothing new in the charges because the former Mrs. Gingrich has made similar claims in a previous magazine interview. What was new was the network’s outrageous and deliberate attempt to manipulate election results by releasing this interview two days before the South Carolina Republican primary.

According to news reports, some ABC News executives wanted to postpone the air date of the interview until after the South Carolina vote. Predictably, the ethical voices within the network were dismissed by those who wanted to make a crass attempt to cash in on a ratings bonanza.

Gingrich was clearly offended by the story and when asked about the issue during last night’s CNN debate, he fired back at moderator John King, saying that he was “appalled that you would begin a presidential debate on a topic like that.” The debate audience responded with a standing ovation, giving Gingrich a huge boost of support. From the beginning of this presidential race, the liberal media has targeted the conservative GOP candidates. Vicious attacks were launched against candidates such as Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain, forcing both of them from the race. While conservatives have to endure blistering attacks and probes into in their personal lives, President Obama is given the royal treatment, barely subjected to any tough questions.

Today, eight years after Barack Obama burst onto the national stage, the media has still not demanded a host of his records and personal information. Not surprisingly, much of Obama’s background is still unknown. Instead of media outrage, there is silence, proving definitively that there is obvious media bias and a huge double standard.

Regarding last night “explosive” interview with Marianne Gingrich, the media’s goal was not to educate the public, but to torpedo the campaign of Newt Gingrich. Instead of succeeding, the media has provided rocket fuel to Gingrich to continue his campaign in the weeks ahead.

As more Americans become aware of the media’s bias, their ratings will continue to decline and, more importantly, their blatant attempts at voter manipulation will become less and less successful.
