STATEMENT FROM CLERK OF COURT DALE ATKINS REGARDING UPDATE ON DATA RECOVERY
In my last statement on December 14, 2010, I updated you on the progress that my office has made in regards to the on-going data recovery project. As we go into the holidays, our progress remains on track.
As re-entry progresses and records have been delivered, we have determined the need to increase the number of verifiers working on this project. We will continue to work extended hours and assign personnel to this project until the verification of the data is complete.
As it relates to Sheriff’s sales, we are current on all Sheriff Certificates through sale date of January 27, 2011.
RESTORATION OF DATA PROJECT: CONVEYANCE
My office has determined that the total number of instruments needing to be restored is approximately 35,000, much less than our original estimate of 60,000. This is good news. As of today, 29,542 conveyance records have been re-entered.
RESTORATION OF DATA: MORTGAGE DIVISION
The Windward Group has delivered 19,444 mortgage records, and we are on target to meet the January 2 deadline.
I continue to thank the public for its patience and grace with my office as we work through this crisis. We are confident in reaching our January 2, 2011 deadline for all data re-entry. My office views Year 2011 as an opportunity to strengthen, update and review the operations of the clerk’s office and apply lessons we have learned in this crisis.
