Metairie, Louisiana

seamus ryanThere's a growing discussion and debate over whether Donald Trump Jr. and Team Trump violated federal campaign financing law when it met with the Russians at Trump Tower on June 9th. One of those people and organizations who claim that the federal campaign law was broken is Common Cause, the non-partisan watch dog organization which filed a complaint last week.  On Monday, Bayoubuzz Publisher and attorney, Stephen Sabludowsky interviewed the VP of Policy and Litigation Paul Seamus Ryan to determine the basis for the complaint and amended complaint.  Below is part one of that interview and video which picks up with the purpose of the legal action:

The Donald Trump Jr. mystery is becoming as clear as Russian borscht.

Initially Trump Jr. said there were four people in the room when he, his brother-in-law Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort met with a Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya. He then changed his story a few times about the purpose of the meeting.  He declared he was being transparent by releasing the email string that set up the meeting with the Russian attorney.  Oops. We later find out that the  NY Times announced that it had given Donald Jr. a notice that it would be publishing the same emails.

torresIt is official. Sidney Torres, the popular national reality TV show star and New Orleans businessman will not run for Mayor of New Orleans.

Jim Brown: It's hard to leave Louisiana

louisiana swampLet me tell you something I’ve learned over the years. You just can’t get away from Louisiana, no matter how hard you try. Just about anywhere I’ve traveled throughout the world, images of the Bayou State always seem to crop up. That was certainly the case last week when I headed to the North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains for a little fly-fishing.

putin 1Now the debate appears to be, is whether the Donald Trump Jr. email exchange, meeting with a Russian attorney is a violation of the law.

mitch Today's Louisiana Political Shorts:

New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu will once again try to give his 2017 State of the City Address this

Wednesday July 6 at the Civic Theatre, 510 O’Keefe in New Orleans. Doors open at 4:30.

Louisiana Republican Congressman Clay Higgins, who made a name for himself often using controversial dramatic videos, is at it again.
Prior to his being elected Congressman, Higgins made strident comments via video to promote crime fighting. Last year, Captain Clay Higgins resigned from the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office as a result of one of his messages about the “Gremlins” gang.

tauzin yellow“It is mean, it is ugly, it is hateful politics as I've ever seen it. And and it's bringing this country down instead of lifting us up”.

Those were the words of Louisiana Congressman Billy Tauzin, Wednesday afternoon, as Jim Brown and I talked “looking back and looking forward” with one of my favorite local elected officials.

feinsteinCan it get any more intriguing?

Today, Democrat US Senator Diane Feinstein let the world know that she is very concerned about President Donald Trump's most recent tweet barrage, including one in particular from today. In her own response she told President Trump that he would be in a "rude awakening".
