MoretToday, leaders from the State of Louisiana, NASA, LSU and UNO committed to a five-year extension of an agreement to support and develop the National Center for Advanced Manufacturing, or NCAM, which is located at NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans.


louisianaToday, Governor Bobby Jindal marked the opening of the new L.E. Fletcher Technical Community College campus development. 

The new development will house facilities including the new Coastal Commerce Library, an academic resource learning center, student services offices, nine computer labs, and 25 classrooms for arts, sciences, accounting and business programs.

Apparently, the Newhouse group has declined the offer as it has said "nyet" to all other attempts to buy its paper and digital properties.

BATON ROUGE, La. - The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) today adopted the proposed accountability system and criteria for nonpublic school participation in the Louisiana Scholarship Program, ensuring a common bar for performance among all schools and swift consequences if programs do not achieve. Also today, State Superintendent John White provided an update on the ongoing process of student choice and assignment, announcing that the state has initially extended 5,600 scholarship offers to students to participate in the program. Additional placements will follow as families make decisions and schools adjust their student rosters. The Louisiana Scholarship Program was expanded statewide per Act 2, signed into law this April, and is a key component of Louisiana Believes, the state's comprehensive plan to empower educators and parents to make the best choices for children.

AbramsonLouisiana State Representative Neil Abramson, the author of the amendment that sealed the deal on the accountability part of Jindal’s education  package this spring legislative session focusing upon vouchers for private schools, said that “based on my initial review and in speaking to Superintendent White, I believe his proposal addresses the primary purpose of my amendment.  My definition of accountability included testing, criteria for evaluating the testing, and ramifications for schools failing to meet that criteria.”
