Arnie FielkowNew Orleans Citycouncilman Arnie Fielkow has resigned from the councilman office and will be taking the job of Chief Executive Officer of the National Basketball Retired Players Association.  Below is a statement released by him this morning:

Nearly twelve years ago, I received one of the best phone calls of my entire life when New Orleans Saints ownership called to offer me an opportunity to fulfill a life-long dream - a senior front office position in the NFL and to live in the great city of New Orleans. I had worked my entire professional career for such a chance and will be forever grateful to the Saints organization. During my six-year Saints tenure, we enjoyed some incredible moments both on and off the field. I will certainly never forget watching my Dad, who passed away a few months ago, swell up with pride and joy when I was announced as the Saints new Director of Administration. Also, who will ever forget that magical night at the end of December, 2000 when 70,000 Who Dat fans literally danced the night away after the club’s first ever playoff win. Jim Henderson’s call of “Hakim dropped the ball, Hakim dropped the ball, there is a G-d after all” will forever ring in my and Saints fans’ ears.

LandrieuToday, Mayor Mitch Landrieu asked the New Orleans Aviation Board to undertake an in-depth and robust analysis of proposals for the future of the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY). One option is to build a brand new, state-of-the-art airport terminal on the north side of current airport property, which was rated very highly in MSY’s master plan.  The other alternative is expanding the airport adjacent to and west of the existing facility.

dardenne-nungesserWhat is the status of Louisiana elections 2011? Lou Gehrig Burnett, Publisher of Fax-Net opines about the Goveror's,  Lt. Governor's and Secretary of State races:

Joe BidenBelow is the full text of the op-ed by Vice President Joe Biden entitled, “Delivering the Accountable Government that Taxpayers Deserve” which was published today in McClatchy Newspapers. The White House has released it to the media for publication.

Right now in Washington, there is a big debate about how to cut spending and rein in deficits while we continue to create jobs and build the platform we need to succeed in the future. The American people have high standards for how their tax dollars are spent, and the government has to find ways to eliminate expenses that are either wasteful or non-essential.

Jeff CrouereAnother celebrity defendant has gotten away with murder. While 25-year-old tramp Casey Anthony is not a football star like O.J. Simpson, America followed her case closely over the past three years. She became a household name because networks like CNN Headline News followed the case 24 hours a day. They covered just this trial and nothing else, no matter what was happening at home or abroad.

Drew BreesDrew Brees (identification provided upon request) will be featured in the top 10 of the NFL Network's "The Top 100: Players of 2011" on Sunday.

Stephen SabludowskyIn the middle of a Louisiana legislative session focused upon fiscal matters such as fixing a budget shortfall hovering over 1.6 billion dollars, comes an issue that will likely spawn a considerable amount of debate—bullying in school versus gay and lesbian protections.

Bullying takes place in schools.  It is not limited to victims who happen to possess a certain orientation.
