With the general session of the Louisiana Legislature only hours away, Louisiana Speaker Jim Tucker will be facing his last term as a member of the House of Representatives.  He is term limited.

Yet, there is no time for goodbyes.  The agenda is full since Louisiana is facing one of the heaviest obligations in its modern history.  The state budget is 1.6 billion dollars out of balance based upon revenue projections.

By George, it’s John Georges.

The multi-millionaire businessman from New Orleans has decided to put his money where is heart is—trying to serve his community as an elected official.

The spotlight is on soft-spoken and popular Louisiana House Speaker Jim Tucker to help the state get through what might be the most difficult legislative sessions in decades.  The session begins next week.

Louisiana Governor Jindal criticized BP on the eve of the Deepwater Horizon BP oil spill disaster which rocked the world last year.  The Governor said that BP should make a downpayment on the restoration projects of the state and other Gulf States.

Bobby Jindal said the future course and size of the University Medical Center—an issue which has caused a difference of opinion between U.S. Senator David Vitter and the Governor-- will be discussed at an upcoming meeting of the Board of Directors and should be based upon independent business analysis and not politics.

Pat Sajak and Vanna White, two television personality icons of America were in New Orleans filming three weeks worth of the Wheel of Fortune program.

Stephen SabludowskyThis week, Louisiana Republican Governor Bobby Jindal revealed he would rather wait until next year for a Congressional remap plan that works rather than select one now that doesn’t.

Never mind that our legislators have been spending taxpayer’s dollars during the spring special redistricting session, racking their brains going through maps after maps to comply with the US Constitution’s mandate of reapportionment.

Obviously, what Jindal meant to say is he wants to assure that a stronger Republican majority in the legislature will draw more favorable maps for its own party rather than completing business during the special session ending today.  Certainly, it would help his national ambitions if he could show the national GOP that he is delivering Louisiana to its doorstep.

Should there be a delay in devising the congressional districts and should the Republicans get their way this fall, unless the matter is resolved during the upcoming legislative session as President Joel Chaisson has threatened, most of the current Louisiana House Congressional delegation members will get an election-year boost.  It will be virtually impossible for any challenger to unseat an incumbent in 2012 as the Congressional district boundaries would be finalized leaving little time for challengers to mount an offense.

Another Northshore Louisiana state legislator, J. Kevin Pearson, has taken to the airwaves with an e-press release to protest a move backed by Governor Bobby Jindal to change the 1st Congressional District of Louisiana's boundaries.  The current district is the same that Jindal represented when he served Congress prior to becoming the Louisiana Governor in 2008.

Stephen Sabludowsky--Publisher of Bayoubuzz.comBoth the Louisiana democrats and republicans were "raising cain" today as both parties sent out e-barrages to draw attention to their respective public relations swipes, du jour.   Also, the Republicans announced a new speaker for their big spring shindig, Herman Cain.

Stephen Sabludowsky--Publisher of Bayoubuzz.comWord around the state is that Carolyn Fayard is moving towards running for the top state’s office.   Even former Miss America Phyllis George called her “governor” this weekend during George’s speech to the Louisiana Center for Women and Government.

Which is probably the reason that Roger Villere, the news national GOP executive is so bent out of shape today.
